Wilson Bridge

The Historic Wilson Bridge in Washington County MD was built in 1819 and serviced the National Road until 1937. The local residents used the road until 1972. Ten years later in 1982 a catastrophic partial collapse of the bridge lead to the scheduled demolition for safety purposes. However, the public spoke loud enough for the bridge to be restored for pedestrian use and a community park.
